WHAT DO THE INSPECTIONS COVER?
Inspections are guided by Appendix C & D of the Australian Standard that outlines what type of minimum condition the item must be in to pass the inspection and/or to be certified for continued use.
Inspections will check webbing and ropes for damage caused by but not limited to:
Tears & Cuts
Frays & Distortions
Burns & Abrasions
Contaminates such as:
paint grease solvents silicone putty render concrete dirt
Inspections will check buckles, karabiners, clasps & working mechanisms for damage caused by but not limited to:
Cracks & Tears
Dents & Distortions
Contaminates
EVEN MINOR ‘DAMAGE’ MAY CAUSE AN ITEM TO FAIL
RETURNING ITEMS TO BETTA HIRE
Upon the return of a Safety Harness, Lanyard or Roofer’s Kit the items will be immediately taken to a member of the Betta Hire Workshop staff who will conduct a preliminary inspection of the harness. The outcome of the inspection will either be:
No damage
Obvious damage
WHAT IF THE ITEM IS ‘DAMAGED’?
Evidence of possible damage will result in the item being sent to an external party for inspection. This will incur an inspection charge. If the item is passed, the inspection charge will be waived and the matter is finalised. If the item is failed, you will be charged a replacement cost for the failed item as well as the cost of the inspection. Evidence of obvious damage will result in a replacement cost being charged without inspection by an external party. You may request inspection by an approved external party, however the inspection charge will be required to be paid up front.
CAN I HAVE THE ‘DAMAGED’ ITEM?
No, sorry. We cannot “sell” you an item which has failed certification.
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THEM?
Dispose of them.
HOW DO I PROTECT THE ITEMS?
Transport them in the vehicle with you, away from any contaminates. Be careful about their placement on site when not in use. Be aware of items or substances involved with your task which may cause damage to the item/s and take measures to avoid damage.
